Roots Down, Branches Out

Christ Church Jazz Choir is an SAT choir of twelve singers who lead the music worship at Christ Church monthly jazz vespers. The choir was founded two years ago by Christ Church Music Director, Rachel Maby. The choir’s repertoire includes a mix of gospel, spirituals, soul and jazz repertoire, with many of the arrangements written by MD, Rachel Maby.

The choir is auditioned and all members are incredibly accomplished gospel singers, singer-songwriters and soloists busy performing on London’s jazz and neo-soul scene. Past and present singers include Jumoké Fashola, Lara Eidi, Milo Merah, Tracy Coleman, Megan Linnel and Temperal Jewels.

The Choir’s in-house jazz piano trio features some of London’s finest jazz musicians: Liam Dunachie on piano and Scott Chapman on drums (both in Patchwork Jazz Orchestra and Misha Mullov-Obbado sextet) and Arthur O’Hara on electric bass (Arthur O’Hara trio and World Service Project).

Alongside Christ Church Monthly Jazz Vespers, the choir has performed external gigs around London, which includes The Highbury Festival and the V&A.

If you would be interested in joining the choir or book the choir for a performing or church event, please get in touch with Music Director, Rachel Maby
