ST JOHN’S Highbury Vale PRIMARY SCHOOL,

ST JOHN’S Highbury Vale PRIMARY SCHOOL

A message from our Headteacher of St John's Highbury Vale:

At St John's Highbury Vale, we believe that education is about far more than academic achievement; it's about nurturing the whole child. Every day, our pupils flourish in an environment where we nourish both mind and spirit, helping them grow not only as learners but as thoughtful, compassionate individuals. We offer a comprehensive range of enrichment opportunities designed to inspire curiosity and discover our pupils’ hidden talents: from chess and self-defence to gardening, cooking, coding, science, and an impressive range of sports clubs. Our wraparound care, running from 7:45am to 6pm and led by our dedicated school-based team, allows our families to balance the demands of work and home, confident that their child is engaged, safe and happy. But what truly sets us apart is our unwavering Christian vision. It sits at the heart of every decision we make, every policy we create, and every interaction we have with our pupils and one another. We are more than a school; we are a vibrant community where families are welcomed, where children belong, and where we strive, achieve and thrive together.

We would be honoured to welcome your family to St John's Highbury Vale.

Here at Christ Church we pray regularly for the schools around us, and support them where we

can. We are particularly proud to support our excellent local Church of England primary school, St John’s Highbury Vale. Our vicar serves on the Governing Body alongside three others including the Chair of Governors who are members of our church community.

As part of it’s admissions policy, St John’s gives priority to children whose parents attend worship at Christ Church (or St Thomas’, or St Augustine’s) at least once a fortnight in the two years prior to applying.

For example, application for reception entry in September 2028 would be made in January 2028, you would need to have started attending at least fortnightly from January 2026. If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to email us here or contact the office at St John’s Highbury Vale directly here.

Our services are at 9am and 11am every Sunday. Each service runs a creche and children’s

groups. Once a month we have a shorter all age service particularly suited to families with pre-

school children.

We are a lively community of all ages. Our motto is “roots down, branches out”, a community that is rooted in faith and branching out in loving service.

“God is love, and those who live in love live in God and God lives in them.” – 1 John 4:16

We are an open and inclusive church.

Whoever you are, and wherever you are on life’s journey…

You are welcome here!
